Returns & refunds

Our policy for direct Automation Outlet orders. Your statutory rights are not affected.

Consumer cancellations

If you are buying as a consumer and place an eligible order online, by email or by telephone, you may cancel without giving a reason within 14 days of receiving the goods.

Tell us within that 14-day period by emailing info@automation-outlet.co.uk. After notifying us, return the goods within a further 14 days.

How to return an item

Email info@automation-outlet.co.uk with your order reference, item or part number and reason for return. We will confirm the return instructions and return address. Please package items securely and include enough information for us to identify the order.

Return condition

You may inspect goods to the extent reasonably necessary to establish their nature, characteristics and functioning. Please return items complete, securely packaged and with any accessories supplied.

If handling goes beyond what is reasonably necessary and reduces the value of the goods, we may make a lawful deduction from the refund to reflect that reduction in value.

Return postage

For a consumer change-of-mind return, the customer is responsible for the direct cost of returning the goods unless we agree otherwise in writing.

If goods are faulty, damaged on arrival, materially not as described, or we have made an error with the order, contact us before returning them. Where we are responsible for the return, we will arrange or reimburse a reasonable return method as appropriate.

Refund timing

For an eligible consumer cancellation, we will refund the price paid together with the cost of our least-expensive standard delivery option where applicable. Any additional amount paid for an enhanced delivery service is not normally refundable.

Refunds are made using the original payment method unless otherwise agreed. For an eligible consumer cancellation, the refund is made within 14 days of receiving the returned goods or acceptable evidence that they have been sent back, where the law allows us to wait for that evidence.

Faulty or incorrectly described goods

Goods supplied to consumers must meet the rights provided by applicable UK consumer law. Rights relating to faulty goods are separate from the 14-day change-of-mind cancellation right.

The condition shown on each listing — for example new, used, refurbished, surplus or bench tested — forms part of the product description. A stated test scope only covers the functions expressly described as tested.

Model cancellation notice

Consumers may cancel by emailing us clearly instead of using a form. If useful, you can copy the wording below:

Model cancellation notice

To Automation Outlet, info@automation-outlet.co.uk:
I/We hereby give notice that I/We cancel my/our contract of sale for the following goods: ________
Ordered on / received on: ________
Order reference: ________
Customer name: ________
Customer address: ________
Date: ________

Business / B2B orders

Purchases made wholly or mainly for business purposes are not covered by the consumer 14-day cancellation right. Returns for business orders are governed by the agreed order terms and applicable law. Nothing in this policy excludes rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Exchanges & exceptions

We do not operate a standard exchange service. Where a return is accepted, the normal process is a refund followed by a new order if another item is required.

Some goods may be excluded from change-of-mind cancellation rights where a statutory exception applies, including certain made-to-order or personalised goods and sealed software once unsealed.
